From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2010With award-winning Quattro out of the picture (it closed in 2009), Ronda Locatelli is an obvious alternative for top-end Italian dining in Dubai. Celebrity chef Giorgio Locatelli has ensured the food on offer is elevated well beyond the norm, while the informal but snappy service (paired with the wacky Atlantis setting) ensures a complete lack of fussiness. The menu is rustic and straightforward with flashes of brilliance that are dampened only by the occasional underwhelming dish. The green bean salad starter, for instance, is plain and overpriced, though the pan-roasted cod with lentils is worth every dirham. There are better pizzas to be had in town, but the desserts are sublime, particularly the old favourites – tiramisu and panna cotta. Nudge down the prices, weed out the inconsistencies, and Ronda Locatelli would be the real deal: trattoria-style food given the treatment by a chef who knows his business.
