Burger 360

From the outside, it is quite tricky to spot this new burger option on Dubai’s Marina Promenade, surrounded (as it currently is) with building works. Once inside Burger 360, however, the restaurant itself looks surprisingly far more stylish than you might expect for a casual-dining concept that is also diminutive in size. The style of decor may remind you of Dubai’s classier bars, with all black onyx-like surfaces, light gold-toned accents, high ceilings and a central counter, where diners can sit around an open kitchen, teppanyaki-style. The tone of service and of the welcome received varied, with some staff members friendlier than others. Some had a slightly disinterested and surly tone that suggested that they were not used to actually doing some work and having customers to serve. On the menu of this burger joint, the first page offers a huge selection of options for creating your own burger combination. Moving on to the à la carte section, you’ll find some fairly classic sounding combinations, but with a little twist to some recipes: the fillings are inside the patty, not on top. The signature B360 burger was stuffed with caramelised onions, provolone cheese and mushrooms. The bread itself was sweet and tasted like a poor quality fast-food equivalent. This let the burger down, considering the patty itself was excellent: well prepared, tasting equally juicy and meaty, and with the stuffing acting as a pleasurable and surprising eating experience, and seemingly generously crammed with onion and cheese (if not as much mushroom). It is the theory of three-Michelin star chef Heinz Beck that filling pasta with sauce (ravioli-style) rather than serving it in sauce, makes it easier to digest. Perhaps you’ll think this a spurious comparison, but there seems to be an equivalent cohesion achieved by stuffing the beef burger patties. They become less messy to eat, and somehow seem to be less exhaustively heavy and burdensome on the belly. But perhaps that’s just psychosomatic. Side dishes sampled were primarily of a good to ordinary standard. The vanilla milkshake (incidentally, the order had been changed to chocolate fairly quickly, but this was evidently not noted) tasted like melted ice cream, with plenty of sweetness but no redeeming sense of flavour or creamy consistency. The steak fries were nicely, organically shaped, with a great contrast of hot creamy insides and crunchy coating. Considering the unending number of new burger options in Dubai, Burger 360 is not especially unique (despite those patties) or better than most of the rest. It is however a pleasant new option in Dubai Marina. The bill (for one) 1x B360 burger Dhs45 1x stuffed jalapeno Dhs19 1x steak fries Dhs17 1x milkshake Dhs19 Total (excluding service) Dhs100
