From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2010Marco Polo was an explorer, which perhaps goes some way to explain why the eponymous hotel in Deira feels so far off the beaten track. Yet, despite sounding as though it’s been named by a zany teen, Chopstix is certainly worth the voyage. The menu is, if anything, a little bloated owing to the restaurant’s multitudinous ‘Asian’ offerings, while the decor frill-free. Happily, however, the sensible setting doesn’t detract from the quality of the food. Whether it’s the traditional hotpots, the excellent seafood (including lobster and squid), or relatively simple chicken dishes, almost everything tastes fresh and for the most part is good value. Chopstix is the kind of place you make a habit of visiting – certainly the staff’s friendly demeanour leaves the impression it could easily become a place where everybody knows your name.
