When it comes to beachside bars, there are plenty to choose from in Dubai. The latest addition, Cove Beach, situated within the grounds of Jumeirah Beach Hotel, offers guests a day to night experience. This restaurant, bar and beach lounge can be enjoyed for dinner, drinks, sunbathing and partying, thanks to its lively music and resident DJ. The seafront complex occupies an ideal location overlooking the Burj Al Arab, making it a popular spot with both tourists and locals. With a truly picture-perfect setting, the décor of Cove Beach is minimalistic and contemporary with off-white furnishings. The Sea Lounge’s super-sized sunbeds provide guests with the perfect spot to soak up the sun and sea throughout the day. Arriving at Cove Beach around sundown, we opted to sit on one of the cushioned sofas overlooking the sea — guests can choose to take shade under one of the parasol tables if they wish. Staff were quick to introduce themselves and offer the drinks menu, which featured a selection of signature mixed drinks, hops, grape and shorts. A well-presented member of staff informed us that we could order a mixed drink of our choice, even if it wasn’t on the menu. With that in mind we selected a passion fruit Caribbean-style concoction. Feeling slightly peckish we asked if we could see a bar snacks menu, only to be informed that food isn’t served until 7pm. With our bellies rumbling, we asked if we could perhaps have a bowl of nuts, which we were informed would arrive promptly. After 15 minutes of waiting for both orders, another member of staff came over asking to serve us. Immediately we realised that the previous waiter had not placed our order. So we were left waiting a further five minutes to receive our drinks, which came minus the nuts. Nevertheless, we decided to sit back, relax and ask another member of staff if we could have some, hoping for a different outcome. However, he went off in search, never to return, making us a little nutty. Overall, staff were friendly but on this occasion, service was extremely slow. If you can overlook the inattentive waiters and you have eaten beforehand, Cove Beach is a picturesque spot to enjoy early evening drinks while watching the sun go down.
