The culinary journey begins with a romantic abra ride through the Madinat’s canals to this beautiful waterside restaurant where well-informed staff will guide you through the fascinating – if slightly daunting – menu. Forget nut roast and veggie-burgers, this chameleon-like gourmet selection changes according to the seasonality of ingredients, hence to wax lyrical about individual dishes would be futile. Simply place yourselves in the more-than-capable hands of Chef Gaby and go for the taster menu – it’s the only way you’ll get a true sample of her deliciously unusual concoctions such as – on our visit at least – a delightfully aromatic fennel, fig and feta papillote or the wonderful geranium crÃƒÂ¨me caramel. Yes, veggie staples of tofu, lentils and polenta are present, but prepared with such care that they seem almost exotic. This is health food at its very best.
