From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2010Casual, colourful, tasty and entertaining for kids – if it’s a great value family brunch or buffet you’re looking for, then Spice Island is a must. The only requirement is that you arrive absolutely ravenous, because – with its tandoori ovens, a Mongolian barbecue, sushi spread, Italian section, Mexican tacos and fajitas and a Chinese counter – Spice Island is a veritable belt-buckle-busting feast. In general, the grub is top quality, although special mention goes to the light and crisp tempura prawns, taste-bud tinglingly fresh sashimi, barbecued lobster and creamy, spicy butter chicken. The brunch can get a bit chaotic and should be avoided by romantics or those on a first date, but mums and dads will love the novelty of tucking in, uninterrupted, while the nippers are entertained with face-painting, foodie crafts and their very own mini-buffet. While Spice Island may not be a first choice for those looking for the ‘wow’ factor, the unpretentious family vibe gets our thumbs up.
