From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2010Vivaldi is like an Italian lothario. It looks good and is full of promise, but, in the end, it’s just a letdown. All the right ingredients are there: the candle-lit terrace, the sweeping views of Dubai Creek with fairy-lit abras chugging by, the gentle hum of conversation. Even the right ingredients are on the menu – fancy foie gras, truffles, lobster… However, the veal steak is bland and has little in way of accompaniments to spice it up (four tiny cherry tomatoes and a sprig of basil). Simplicity can work if the produce and cooking is good enough, but at Vivaldi it falls short – and this goes for many other dishes on the menu. The service is also slapdash, if apologetic; but this just isn’t enough when the bill arrives and you feel that, not only did your Italian lothario fail to satisfy you, he overcharged you.
