From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2010Don’t be put off by the front of Wafi Gourmet. Once you’ve navigated the marble hallways of the mall, this luxurious little food stop appears to be just a very posh supermarket. But go beyond the gourmet food counters and you’ll find tables and chairs, inside and out, as well as a busy kitchen. The food on offer is of the Arabic variety – mostly Lebanese favourites. Choose from the grills, mezze and a reasonable selection of fruit juices. The baba ghanoush has a fine, citrus kick to it and the meat dishes – including generous shawarma plates – are of fair quality. But you’ll be paying above the odds – with a chicken shawarma plate much more expensive than what you’d pay at a street-side restaurant – and it’s hard to work out what it is you’re paying for.
